In anticipation for the warmer weather, I purchased curtain lining at JoAnn's when it was 50% off. Grandma Sally gave us this fabric about a year ago and the colors matched Tyson's room so thought they would make great curtains. He had a denim valance hanging in his room before but now he has this...
...block out the light (no more 4 am wakings when the sun comes up in the summer), block out the heat (hopefully no more 85-degree-inside-the-house-at-bedtime kind of days-we are too cheap to install AC for a few short weeks of heat), add-a-bit-more-color to his room kind of curtains. Practical, functional and he loves them. He has informed me (after checking out the Wild West Books to Grow on kit at the local library) he wants a cowboy room. Guess we have a good start! :) Notice the frame with 4 paintings in it...Tyson painted them himself. He was inspired by Grandma Savage's painting. He really liked how the framing turned out.

Tyson made a water-color painting of a hat on his new curtains so I thought I would scan it for all to enjoy. He had the fabric in front of him as he painted it. I am pretty impressed!
