Sprinkler Fun

This summer has been a strange one.  The weather doesn't know if it wants to be cool or warm causing me difficulty in knowing what to do with windows at night-leave them open or close them?  There have even been a few days when I thought about turning the heat on to get warm.  Cold, then hot, then cold and hot again.  The poor garden doesn't quite know what to do either!  We did get some nice strawberries earlier this spring.  The boys wanted a carrot cake the other day so I told them to pull the carrots from the garden, wash them and grate them.  The did it (with a little help from mom) and we enjoyed homemade carrot cake.  We might get a few Roma tomatoes and a few potatoes.  The corn isn't tall enough to have any ears appear and the pumpkin didn't grow this year along with several other items  planted.  However, I will keep trying in years to come until I get this gardening thing perfected!

The kids, on the other hand, know just what to do in the summer sun, even if the sunshine hasn't been warm enough to warm the water in the pool or if it has been cool enough that we drain the pool water.  They just play in the sprinklers.  I particularly like Tyson's helmet!  Fun summer days!

Fixing the Drainfield at The Cabin

Jason has had the task of working on the drainfield at the cabin this summer as the toilet became inoperable due to backups early in the summer.  He dug a ditch from the back door of the cabin to where the horse shoe pit use to be to hook up with the hole that was dug by a backhoe, thankfully.  Hours were spent rock picking, root chopping and more digging with his mom by his side helping. The picture with Jason and the kids in the hole doesn't do justice to the amount of work done as the ditch was already covered back up by the time I got there.  Where was I during all the work?  Home with BriAnn up several times each night going to the bathroom.  Somehow, outhouses in the night just didn't sound like a good idea at this point in the pregnancy.  Trevor and Tyson helped Jason, too.  And the finished product?  A toilet that doesn't back up when flushed!  Yipee!!!  Jason's parents covered the hole back in so Jason didn't have to do that part.

We have had some fun, too.  A little hike to Union Falls always reminds us of the day Jason proposed and many happy journeys since; trips to the lake enjoying the water, our kayak and sunshine; horseback rides; throwing rocks in the river and more.

Trip to Utah

Kyle's staples...at least some of the 27+.  I'll bet next time he wears a helmet.
We are so glad he is alive and are very grateful for the power of the priesthood!
Breakfast with Marianne.  She took me to kneaders...YUMMY!
Bridal Veil Falls.  Mom Hebdon remembers climbing up to the falls when she was attending BYU.  We also went boating with Kamany's family but I didn't take my camera.

 Cute Kinley
Family Photo
Temple Square.  We watched "Joseph Smith: The Prophet of the Restoration".
