There's a bird in the chimney
Yes, we had a bird in the chimney this month. Jason was working from home and Mom Hebdon was with us helping out after Taylor was born. We were sitting in the living room when we heard some rustling in the chimney. After some discussion and looking from the inside of the chimney, Jason went on the roof and looked. Sure enough, a little bird (maybe some type of woodpecker)...ok not so little but not as big as the black birds we have in our yard...was caught in the chimney. Jason opened the flu and the bird came down into the fireplace which we had boarded up. Jason proceeded to use a sheet to try to trap the bird to get it outside but in the end just had to grab it with a gloved hand and carried it outside. He threw it into the air and the bird took flight until it crashed into the neighbor's gutters. In the end, the bird was set free but I don't know if it will survive. At least Jason tried to be an "animal rescuer" like Dora and Diego. We tried to wait for the kids to get home from school before setting it free but the bird wanted out so they just had to hear about it, not actually witness it. No pics of this one as it all happened so fast and I was needed for more important jobs (like holding the flashlight and opening the door) than taking pictures. Oh, well!
Trevor Turns 8!
Trevor turned 8 this month and has started Cub Scouts. He loves Cub Scouts! Upon special request, Jason made him Chocolate Eclair cake and Aunt Alison brought him pizza. Jason used marshmallows to put the candles in as the cake has a hard shelled topping. He was in heaven! Taylor had been home from the hospital two days and Tyson was running a fevor of 102.8 degrees. Fun times.
Baby Taylor has arrived
January 16th in the early afternoon Taylor John was born weighing 6 pounds 2 ounces and was 17 1/2" long. What a little joy! Trevor has yet to hold him due to not wanting to hurt him. He said he will when he is ready. Most likely when Tyson and BriAnn are not around to disturb Taylor while in Trevor's arms. Trevor is very protective of Taylor and loves him a lot even though he hasn't held him. Tyson and BriAnn both love Taylor, too. Tyson is already talking about ways he is going to help baby Taylor when he starts crawling and walking. BriAnn brings toys and says she is going to share with baby Taylor and reads him books while he is eating.
Had to add this that happened the first day Taylor was home: Trevor was worried about Baby Taylor getting stolen from his swing in the front room so I moved him to his crib and he woke up. Trevor was with me so he started speaking softly to Taylor and Taylor got quiet. Trevor beamed from ear to ear and said "Mom, I calmed Taylor down." He started to fuss a bit more so Trevor started singing "I Am a Child of God" to him and Taylor fell asleep. Again, Trevor beamed from ear to ear. "I just got Taylor to fall asleep!" He later said "My happiness can never break." We were talking about what a sweet spirit a new baby can bring into the home.

Fondue Party and New Year's Eve
We had a fondue party with Jason's siblings and spouses last night. The food was soooo yummy. We also played games. A Rook tournament took place and while you waited your turn, other games were available to play: Qwirkle Cube, Banana Grams, and others. It was a fun evening.
For the New Year celebration, we are going to celebrate New York time with the kids. We will play games with them, eat more yummy food and just have a relaxing evening at home.
Happy New Year!

Happy 40th, Jason!
Jason's birthday was the same day we went to the Keith and Idris family reunion. He wasn't too excited about spending his 40th birthday away from his family (visiting from Utah, Texas, Spokane) so Grandma Sally and I crafted this plan with the help of Jason's siblings to surprise him when we got home from Ensign Ranch. I told them where the hide-a-key was, hid a banner for them to hang up and they brought pizza and the cake. When we got stuck in traffic on the way home, I used the excuse that I wanted to know if the pass was closed to call his mom and let her know we were running late. Everyone was a good sport and when we got home, we walked into the dark house and everyone yelled "SURPRISE" and turned on the Christmas tree lights. It was a fun moment to remember. Again, I didn't get a pic of everyone standing there yelling surprise and I wish I had. I think Jason will remember this for a long time as he had no clue what we had planned. After eating pizza, cake and ice cream and opening presents, games were played. Here are a couple of pics of game playing in process.
We love you Jason!
